Steps in the Australian Immigration Process
First Step- Skills Assessment: You must have a skills assessment that shows you have the skills and qualifications to work in your nominated occupation. The assessment can be done by the assessing authority which is relevant to your nominated occupation. Before you proceed you may need to make sure that you qualify to apply for skills assessment. There are close to 39 assessing authorities who performs the assessment & each one have its own unique complex requirements, which sometimes analyze by the authority on case by case basis too. So, it’s very crucial to meet the minimum requirements of assessing authority & then present the case to specialist officer in a best possible manner showcasing your exceptional skills & proving the same with the documentation.
Below are some examples & the minimum requirements of assessing authority for the below nominated occupations.
Accountants:
The minimum education requirement is Bachelor’s degree comparable to Australian standard, there are 8 mandatory subjects, the core competency areas, which must be covered in your curriculum. If applicant have started the professional education like ACCA (UK), CIMA (UK), ICAS (Srilanka) which isn’t completed yet then partial mandatory subjects can be considered if studied in professional education, & professional education must be started after completion of Bachelor’s degree to consider the core competency areas studied in Professional Education. The 8 Core competency areas includes – Accounting Systems and Processes, Financial Accounting and Reporting, Management Accounting, Finance & Financial Management, Business Law (corporate law), Economics, Quantitative Methods.
Contrary to it, if you have started your professional education (ex: ICAI, ACCA, CIMA, ICAS, ICAP) which is incomplete & later you have done the Bachelor’s degree which covers only 6 competency areas & the remaining 2 competency areas was covered in your professional education which was started before the Bachelor’s degree & is still incomplete.
This will not be accepted by the assessing authority & the outcome is unlikely to come positive.
Though, Work Experience is not required to be assessed positively but if you would like to gain points for employment then your position-
- as a book keeper, clerical or accounting clerk will not be assessed positively
- in a business, that has the annual turnover of less than 1 Million Aud will not be assessed positively
- in a business of fewer than 5 employees will may not be assessed positively.
Sales and Marketing Manager
You must be reporting directly to the Owner of business, Head of Department, CEO, Or Managing Director. The organization chart is vital, which must show that you have 3 or 4 direct reportees who are also at managerial level. You must have Senior functional management position over a continuous period of at least 3 years, to be assessed positively, the size of the organization will influence the assessment
Other Conditions – The applicant’s salary must be greater than 65000 Aud $ and,
The Turnover of the company must be more than 1,000,000 Aud $
It’s important to present the case to the specialist officer covering the maximum possible requirements, to convince the officer that you have what it takes to be a Senior Manager.
